EARLY VOTING: OCTOBER 21, 2024 - November 1, 2024

Friends, I am once again humbly asking for your vote to be re-elected to the Tomball ISD School Board because I believe. I believe in community. I believe in family. I believe in tomorrow. And I believe in progress and the human spirit. It is clear in my mind that the intersection of these personal beliefs is education, and the future success of our society will be influenced by the investments and decisions we make today.
I live in the district with my wife and our two young daughters. My career brought us to Texas, but the great schools and small town feel brought us to Tomball ISD.
In my free time, I love to read and always have. I enjoy reading about history, believing there is tremendous value in learning from our past. We should strive to learn from our mistakes, not repeat them. I also enjoy traveling with my family. I love visiting our National Parks and real-life places featured in fiction and non-fiction books. My favorite so far was sleeping in a covered wagon on the open prairie in De Smet, South Dakota on the Ingalls Homestead, one time home of Laura Ingalls Wilder, author of Little House on the Prairie.
I am also a DIY repair guy, and really enjoy projects repairing things around the house like appliances, electronics and lots and lots of toys. I also do my own vehicle repairs at home and enjoy teaching my daughters how as well. I learned from spending my childhood with my dad in his shop, where he has been a mechanic since he was 15 years old and is still working today.
I have been employed with ExxonMobil for over half of my life, beginning when I was 18 years old. It all started at a Mobil service station in my hometown, where I accepted a job running a cash register, making coffee, and cleaning bathrooms and gas pumps. I needed a job, and this was one I could walk to from my mother's house. For the next 3 years I worked every weekend and every holiday, anywhere I was needed and could help.
Now, over 25 years later, my professional record will show continual and exceptional growth in a highly competitive and diverse environment across a variety of roles and with increasing levels of responsibility. I have been raised to practice the bedrock fundamentals of ExxonMobil with regards to safety, environment, controls, ethics and financial discipline. It has become my way of life.
My current role is within the polymers business, working with large automotive manufacturers and suppliers to not only help them make better products today, but to also ensure my company is in the best position to meet their needs in the future. This type of work requires deep, long term strategic thinking about the future and relies on skills such as financial and statistical analysis, collaboration, innovation, relationship building and decision making to incrementally grow business and win in the marketplace.

Justin Unser,
Vice President & Trustee, Tomball ISD School Board
I believe we have a responsibility to
carry the children of today as far as we can, to the highest levels we can, before turning
them loose on the world to make good things happen for the next generation to come.
We also must be responsible to our community, continuing to prudently stretching our tax dollars, looking for ways to increase efficiency, while providing a high value education for all.
Great leaders are focused on the future. I want us to be ready. Ready for the projected growth of our district. Ready for the financial uncertainties in a world that has changed. Ready to retain the teaching talent we have and find more. Ready to adapt to the needs of our students so they are ready for the future .
